The Truth About Online Matrimony!

Gone are the days ..when a distant relative would bring a marriage proposal .... this is the age of Instant everything... so the distant..sometimes near relative has been replaced by online matrimony...

Having been around on online matrimony for a while... I realised ..that every one out there on the site..seems to be looking for the boyfriend or girlfriend ...which they never had...

Earlier the parents were very much in the loop, when it comes to making a decision, but now the power to say no lies in the hand holding the mouse..that is with the girl or the boy...

There is no one to tell them that do meet this person, and then decide.. or maybe some people look different in fotos....and all that...

Quizzing!

Ever since I relocated to the "Village of Boiled Beans" from the land of the Nizams, my quizzing has taken a hit, after a one long month without attending any quizzes, I finally got to attend one!

Had no partner, so just walked in, and was surprised to see a lady quizmaster, in an evening dress!!

Well it took another 20 minutes for the elimination round to start, enough for me to get a partner. Well suprise surprise, we scored the highest. 6 teams in the finals, and here we came 4th, not bad I would say, considering the fact, that the questions that were asked to us, went unanswered in the infinite bounce!

It was a decent quiz, the only thing that I dint like, was them including a tech round!! and one such question in tech round was what does the Acronym SAP stand for :|

There were very good quizzers in the finals, the winner of the quiz was my senior from GIM... YAY!!

I really look forwards to attending all the quizzes that happen there from now on...If only we could have a t@6 type thing here, it would have been awesome...

Nevertheless a great experience...

Bus ride to work!

It's been a month now, that I have started commuting to work by the company bus, all through out my 6 years of work life, I have never done so.. It is a very interesting experience, and like always I end up noticing things and observing people..

  1. People would be taking the same bus for years, and from the same stop, but dont expect them to recognize each other or to even say HI !
  2. These buses would the most silent buses u will ever come across, I mean apart from the engine noise... Almost all of the junta would be plugged into their ipods, or FM many of them would be sleeping, no matter what time it is... A few would be talking on the phones, but to see 2 souls talking is highly unlikely!
  3. People come prepared with all the ration that they require... for any eventuality..
  4. One good thing about taking the bus is, you plan your work accordingly, you get up in time to catch the bus, you finish your tasks for the day to catch the bus.
  5. Life has become very very time bound now
I have a doubt, do people blog for others?? or does one blog for oneself? I feel like writing about whatever that comes to my mind

Life in an IT Company

Well, having spent close to 5 years in a Manufacturing setup, IT seems like a bed of roses.. atleast initially it did :|

Just a few random observations that I came across

  • People dont believe in talking face to face, even if it is to say Hello!!! They would rather use the communicator..!
  • You really cannot trust anyone... well this stands true for mfg as well...but more so for I.T.. You bloody well make sure, you save all your chat transcripts, take screenshots..and preserve mails !
  • The IT folks are one of the most talented bunch you would ever come across..
  • I really think that all of us IT folks are over paid.. and underworked...
  • Come on there are bullettin boards, blogs on your intranet, is an employee supposed to work or to blog!!... This is completely unthinkable in Mfg
  • People feel very secure, they can hide behind numbers... while in Mfg, you are very exposed... a single mistake you commit..and they will tear you apart...
  • They are bloody fools, and just look for convenience.. they consider it below their dignity to haggle, and they are routinely taken for a ride by everybody... Just look at the amazingly stupid and high price they would be willing to pay for an apartment, which would be a built in a place where no one else would have even thought of .. they go there as it is a "gated community" and there are more such fools living around.... They have increased the cost of living so much for the ordinary middle class guy... I shudder to think had I been an ordinary salary earner, these folks would have left me no option but to stay out of the city....
  • Almost 60% of them have no class or dressing sense.. what do u do with all your money!!!
  • I sincerely believe that the IT industry is surviving in India because of the 20% of the ppl who give it their everything...
  • I could never figure out appraisals!

Numero Uno

My first post as a blogger, and I dont have anything to blog about :).. Well let me think, I can blog about why I started blogging :D...

Although I never really had a blog, but I was a very active poster at www.pagalguy.com, a website of MBA aspirants and more, so yes you can say I am not very new to blogging... Reasons as to why I never had a blog of my own.. well quite a few..
  1. Never thought I will have the patience !!!
  2. Never really had the time..
So why now..
  1. I think I have some time to kill, reason being I have moved to another city, and stay alone, so I think this can be a good avenue
  2. I think I do have the patience :)
  3. Last but not the least I am very much in the Matrimony Market!.. and one thing I realised with Online matriony is that.. there is nothing much that an online profile offers.. Everybody says that they are very simple, and above all god fearing :D.. Thats the standard template that everyone wishes and does follow..
Well That is when this thought struck me, what if Posting blogs became mandatory :|... Wouldnt it be nice for someone to read your thoughts on a blog and then decide whether you are suitable for them, instead of a profile which says, I am Blah.Blah and Blah.. working for Tom Dick and Harry.. Earning blah blah and blah.. I am simple and down to earth... and very god fearing :D

This is a very long weekend , thanks to Dushhera Holidays, I really dont have much to do.. Yes I know the Do or Die match between Blue and yellow Flannels is on today..But who really cares...

Well marriage is on top of my mind for the last year, and also on my fathers and sisters!!.. A search which has run for more than a year now... Which sadly doesnt look it will end very soon either...

Why is it so difficult to get married??

Well for starters, I was born under such stars, which have literally screwed me, and mallus, believe more in the power of horoscopes than on the knot tying their mundus !!!!

My horoscope is so so screwed, that only 5 or so out of 100 would match, worse, of those 5, some wont like me, some I wont..

I honestly am very disappointed with Malayali Ezhava profiles that I see online... I am yet to come across a profile about which I can go WOW!!!.. Almost everyone seems to be a Software Developer....and yes..almost everyone is in Bangalore... which is one reason why I had to give up my cozy existence in a nice plush apartment in Jubilee Hills Hyderabad, for a 1BHK in Bangalore.!!!

I am looking forward to meet a family which appreciates my feelings which I have penned down in my profile on that matrimony site...Sadly I still havent met anyone remotely close.. Wonder why is it so..

I will post more a bit later...
